The Energy of Eclipses

What are eclipses and how do they affect us?

Eclipses are astronomical events that occur when one celestial body passes in front of another, blocking its natural light. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon moves in front of the Sun, and a lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth positions itself between the Sun and the Moon. In any case, a period of darkness is created, casting a shadow on the Earth. These events can be total or partial, meaning one body can completely cover the other or only partially obscure it.
The word “eclipse” comes from the Greek “Ékleipsis,” meaning “disappearance,” referring to the absence of light in the sky.

It is important to clarify that to observe an eclipse you must use special eclipse glasses or welding goggles. Do not look at the sky (not even for a second) without eye protection, as you could permanently damage your eyesight. Regular sunglasses are not suitable for viewing eclipses.

The influence of eclipses on people

These moments of darkness bring changes into our lives that may feel like endings or beginnings, but both serve the purpose of reorganizing our path and/or accelerating an issue that needs more of your attention—whether emotional, professional, or spiritual.
For life to change, it is often necessary to let go of certain habits or people that are blocking the arrival of new experiences. Eclipses remind us of the importance of releasing and letting go so that new opportunities can emerge. Ask yourself: What do I need to leave behind right now? and take advantage of the opportunity the universe is offering you.

This period of darkness can also bring uncomfortable symptoms such as anxiety, stress, nightmares, insomnia, and obsessive tendencies. This happens because eclipse energy is very dense and can affect our nervous and muscular systems.
The influence of eclipses can begin up to two days before and continue for two or three days afterward, with a progressive effect: the moment of the eclipse itself is the most intense, and its influence gradually fades.

Solar eclipses in 2026

  • February 17, 2026 – Annular solar eclipse:
This annular solar eclipse opens a powerful cycle related to redefining goals and shifting our perception of reality. Annular eclipses speak of situations that do not fully close: there are endings, but also gray areas that require patience and awareness.
The energy of this eclipse invites you to clearly observe which areas of your life need a new approach, without forcing immediate results. It is an ideal time to plant intentions, especially those that require consistency and a long-term vision.
On an inner level, it may generate a feeling that “something is missing” or “something is changing,” even if it is not yet obvious. Trust the process: what begins here will reveal itself over time.

  • August 12, 2026 – Total solar eclipse:
A total solar eclipse is one of the most intense events of the year. Its energy marks decisive beginnings and irreversible choices. What is activated during this eclipse is unlikely to ever return to how it was before.
This event brings sudden clarity, revelations, and a strong call to align with your authentic purpose. It can feel like a clear before and after, especially regarding identity, life direction, and personal projects.
This is an eclipse that calls for courage: releasing old versions of yourself to make space for one that is more aligned with who you are today. Everything initiated under this energy holds great potential for growth, as long as it is rooted in truth.

Lunar eclipses in 2026

  • March 3, 2026 – Total lunar eclipse:
This total lunar eclipse marks a moment of emotional culmination and deep release. Total lunar eclipses bring hidden matters to the surface, especially emotions, unconscious patterns, and repetitive dynamics.
It represents a powerful closure: relationships, habits, or situations that have fulfilled their purpose may come to a definitive end.

The energy supports introspection and awareness. It is an excellent time for closing rituals, energetic cleansing, and emotional work. What is released here creates space for a lighter and more authentic phase.

  • August 28, 2026 – Partial lunar eclipse:
This partial lunar eclipse works in a more subtle way, but it is no less significant. It points to emotional adjustments, inner reviews, and small truths beginning to emerge.
Unlike a total eclipse, the process here is gradual: you become aware of what needs to change, while still having room to decide how to do it.

It is a good time to observe reactions, relationships, and recurring emotions. Pay attention to what repeats itself during these days—there are important messages there for your personal evolution.

Recommendations during eclipse periods:

  • Meditate and rest; it is normal to feel drained, low on energy, and emotionally sensitive.
  • Take moments of introspection to reflect and review what has happened so far, what no longer serves you, what harms you, and what needs to be released.
  • It is a good time for an energetic cleansing bath.
  • Seek calm and avoid situations that generate stress.
  • Try to stay at home and limit contact with people outside your close circle.
  • Connect with your shadow and learn to accept that part of yourself.
  • Be open and receptive to the changes that are coming into your life.
  • Avoid performing rituals or spells of any kind, as clarity is reduced during this cycle. Remember that this is a phase of darkness and heavy energies; it is best to postpone any ritual work you had planned.
  • Do not charge magical objects under the moonlight; it is not a favorable time.
  • Divinatory practices are not recommended, as answers may be unclear and only lead to greater confusion.
